Welcome to Kentucky Hunter Nation: Open for Business and Ready to Defend Sportsmen’s Rights
Kentucky Hunter Nation is officially open for business.
While there is still a great deal of planning and organization ahead as we continue building our foundation, we are already making significant progress. Most importantly, we have assembled an outstanding group of dedicated individuals who share our commitment to defending and advancing the rights of Kentucky’s sportsmen and sportswomen.
Building Momentum
Our mission is clear: protect hunting traditions, defend sportsmen’s rights, and ensure that science, not politics, guides wildlife management decisions in the Commonwealth.
Kentucky recently concluded its legislative session, and sportsmen came away with numerous victories and only one setback. While we celebrate those successes, our work is far from over. One of the ongoing challenges we face is the persistent effort by some lawmakers to dictate wildlife policy through politics rather than sound science, while seeking greater control over hunting-related decisions in Kentucky.
As we look ahead, several major issues will demand our attention, including the upcoming political races to replace U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and U.S. Representative Thomas Massie. These elections will play an important role in ensuring that Kentucky’s sportsmen and sportswomen continue to have strong representation and advocates in Washington.
Growing a Strong Leadership Team
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to meet with Kelby at the League of Kentucky Sportsmen Annual Convention, where he served as the keynote speaker. The convention provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the future of Hunter Nation in Kentucky and connect with leaders who share our passion for hunting, conservation, and outdoor heritage.
The momentum continues to grow beyond the hunting community as well. I was honored to be invited as a keynote speaker for the Louisville Conservative Coalition, providing another opportunity to discuss the importance of protecting our outdoor heritage, defending constitutional freedoms, and building a stronger voice for Kentucky’s sportsmen and sportswomen.
Kentucky Hunter Nation has already held its first Advisory Committee meeting, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We secured commitments from six highly respected individuals who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization.
Among those who have joined our Advisory Committee are:
- A former Chairman of the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources Commission
- An outdoor journalist who hosts a live radio show and podcast reaching audiences across 13 states
- An attorney with extensive experience in outdoor recreation litigation
- A former Kentucky State Senator
- Additional leaders with deep roots in conservation, hunting advocacy, and public policy
Our goal is to initially build the Advisory Committee to ten members, creating a diverse team of experts and advocates who can help guide Kentucky Hunter Nation’s efforts and strengthen our voice across the state.
Looking Ahead
We are excited about the future and encouraged by the support we have already received. The challenges facing hunters and outdoor enthusiasts are real, but so is our determination to protect the traditions, freedoms, and opportunities that generations of Kentuckians have enjoyed.
Kentucky Hunter Nation is just getting started, and we invite sportsmen and sportswomen across the Commonwealth to join us as we work together to defend our rights, promote science-based wildlife management, and ensure a strong future for hunting in Kentucky.
The work has begun, and Kentucky Hunter Nation is ready.
Outstanding release gentlemen, looking forward to serving!
