Championing Sunday Hunting Expansion

Hunter Nation applauds Representative Mandy Steele for championing Sunday hunting expansion in Pennsylvania

March 12, 2025

HARRISBURG, PA – Hunter Nation commends State Representative Mandy Steele (D-Allegheny County) for introducing House Bill 2106, a significant step toward expanding Sunday hunting opportunities in Pennsylvania. This legislation supports Hunter Nation’s mission to protect the rights of hunters and modernize outdated laws that restrict full-week hunting access.

Representative Steele’s leadership in advocating for Sunday hunting reflects a growing bipartisan movement to support sportsmen, conservation efforts, and outdoor recreation in Pennsylvania. A separate Senate Bill 67 was introduced the previous week, sponsored by Senator Dan Laughlin (R-Erie County), demonstrating strong legislative momentum to repeal the state’s outdated Sunday hunting prohibition.

“Hunter Nation fully supports Representative Steele’s effort to ensure Pennsylvania hunters have the same opportunities as sportsmen in other states,” said John Bingaman, Pennsylvania State Director of Hunter Nation. “Expanding Sunday hunting will strengthen our outdoor economy, preserve our hunting heritage, and provide more opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors.”

Why this legislation matters

  • Increased access for hunters and families – Removing Sunday hunting restrictions allows more working individuals and students to participate in hunting traditions.
  • Economic growth and conservation funding – Sunday hunting generates significant revenue for rural communities and funds conservation programs through hunting license sales.
  • Modernizing Pennsylvania’s hunting laws – Pennsylvania lags behind other states that already permit Sunday hunting, and this bill ensures it is no longer at a disadvantage.

Hunter Nation urges lawmakers across Pennsylvania to support House Bill 2106 and Senate Bill 67 to ensure that hunting freedoms remain protected for future generations.
