Wisconsin DNR is holding its first Wolf Management meeting Thursday 7-22-21
Hunter Nation is continuing our work to ensure that hunters play a role in responsibly managing our predator populations in Wisconsin. The DNR has begun its work of putting together an updated wolf management plan that will be one step in the process of developing a long-term plan to manage Wisconsin’s wolves.
We were disappointed that the agency didn’t do more after the states successful wolf hunt that we made possible in February to work with hunters, farmers, loggers, and other residents who live with wolves every day to develop a better population estimate for the number of wolves that live in the Dairy State. Hunter Nation National Spokesperson Ted Nugent was interviewed on this subject last week.
While the Legislature and the Natural Resources Board will have an opportunity to weigh in on this plan before the statutorily required wolf hunt opens again in November, we encourage all of our Wisconsin members to tune in to this meeting and listen to the discussion. If you want to share your thoughts on this topic, you can also testify at the hearing on Thursday.
You can be assured that Hunter Nation will be monitoring these proceedings closely to ensure that the final wolf management plan includes hunting as a viable means to responsibly manage wolves.
Hunter Nation, we need you again on this critical issue. Your voice matters.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will hold the first of four Wolf Management Plan Committee meetings this Thursday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The meeting will be held virtually, and YOU are invited to attend and observe the proceedings. No pre-registration is required. The livestream will be embedded below, or you can join by phone (312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 817 6864 6459).
