Hunter Nation Response to Chipman Withdraw
Hunter Nation applauds the decision to withdraw David Chipman’s nomination to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Chipman’s nomination to head the ATF was a threat to America's hunting tradition, our outdoor lifestyle, and our second amendment rights. His extremist record, statements, and positions are out of touch with the Constitution and American hunters.
Chipman repeated his support for a ban on semi-automatic rifles during his recent confirmation hearing and supported their confiscation from law-abiding gun owners. Particularly concerning was Chipman’s definition of a “semi-automatic assault rifle” would define every single modern sporting rifle in America today as one meeting his requirements for banning and confiscation.
It was clear Chipman would have used his new position to advance radical gun control that would have turned millions of hard-working, law-abiding American hunters into “illegal” firearms owners.
His removal from the consideration process to head the ATF is a victory for American hunters and believers in our nation’s Constitution.
Hunter Nation remains steadfast in our opposition to any nominee to head the ATF that undermines our constitutional right to bear arms, our hunting tradition, and our outdoor lifestyle.
