Vermont Call to Action

A defacto ban on bear hunting in Vermont is being pushed through the state’s legislature!

Abruptly last night, anti-hunting amendments were attached to an unrelated bill in an attempt to severely restrict the practice of hunting bears with hounds in Vermont.

If passed, these new rules around bear hunting with hounds--including keeping your dog in sight at all times and ensuring your dog does not ever cross into private property without previous written permission--would be nearly impossible for hunters to reasonably follow.

Vermont has had a right to hunt codified in its state constitution since 1793--and was the first state to provide such strong legal protection to hunters and our sport.

Despite Vermont having strong constitutional protections for hunters, an ample bear population, and no safety concerns around the practice of bear hunting with hounds, anti-hunting proponents continue to attempt to push these types of severe restrictions through the legislature.

Take action today and tell the Committee on Hunting, Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife to reject these unconstitutional restrictions on bear hunting!
